Georgia’s Voice is a local charity running small, free, confidential support groups for young women with mental health concerns. They offer a safe place for their members to come and talk, listen or just be. The charity started in 2020. In this time, it has grown organically and from strength to strength and currently runs groups across a third of Cornwall.
Through the passion and hard work of the charity’s growing team they hope to reduce the rate of suicide in young women to zero. Through these groups alone they have created a huge network of support. The team are developing plans to start and run a support centre here in Cornwall. A setting that can help support & be beneficial for their member’s mental & emotional wellbeing. A unique hub that will focus on specific mental health support.
Georgia’s Voice operates a fortnightly support group in Penzance at the Soft Play in St John’s Church, Trewartha Terrace, Penzance, TR18 2HE.
The group is held every other Thursday from 6pm – 7:30pm (9/02/2023). It’s a safe space to find support from peers and the charity’s facilitator team. There is a focus on wellbeing activities and creative projects; and often just offers a place for young women to be heard. They also participate in local activities – they have visited the Geothermal Pool, Castle Brea Farm, Penlee Open Air Theatre and they have beach meet ups when the weather is kind!
Georgia’s Voice will also provide counselling to its’ members if required, a fabulous service that does not cost members anything.
