ST IVES SEPTEMBER FESTIVAL 2022
This year’s 15-day St Ives September Festival has some exciting new events. The opening Saturday – September 10 – sees the revival of Boats In The Bay
with historic fishing lugger Barnabas making an anniversary return to Porthgwidden Beach where she was launched 140 years ago. It will provide a sensational backdrop to the street entertainment afternoon, led by Afro-Brazilian drum and dance group DakaDoum, on the harbourside and in Fore Street.
The following day a historic plaque will be unveiled at Talland House to
celebrate writer Virginia Woolf and her St Ives connections. The town’s Royal Cinema is bringing a special presentation of Cornwall-based film The Long Way Back to the Festival on Tuesday, September 13, including a Q&A with Brett Harvey, the director, and his brother Simon, the producer.
Chris Jagger – brother of Rolling Stone Mick –will perform at St Ives Arts Club following Newlyn resident Diana Taylor’s film Helen Feiler Circles In The Stones, in which he appears.
St Ives Jazz Club have announced two big nights with Webb City, featuring
pianist Joe Webb, and Daniela Soledade and Nate Najar’s Love and Bossa Nova Live at the Western Hotel.
Festival headliners Lindisfarne and Seth Lakeman sold out weeks ago with
Guildhall tickets for Dr Feelgood, American folk music icon Peggy Seeger and Fleetwood Mac Songbook in big demand.
Arts enthusiasts can visit 38 Open Studios and grab a bargain at the Spot the
Artist charity sale which sees keen buyers camp out overnight for first pick of the donated paintings.
