Seadogs, has been set up by a local couple; Josh Manley and his partner Trudi Gilbert. After personally suffering from severe mental health issues and tragically losing several male friends to suicide Josh recently began sea swimming on a daily basis. He quicky discovered that cold water immersion was having a really positive impact on his mental health, it was this realisation that led to his decision to set up Seadogs, in the hope that other men in similar situations could also benefit. Josh and Trudi want to break the stigma of men’s mental health whilst creating a strong local support network to aid those who may be struggling. As well as the regular swims (dates & times of which are posted on their facebook group) the couple are also available to message or call for any man that needs to talk at any time. Although very new the group is already experiencing great success with hundreds of people becoming members of the facebook group and a number of men attending the swims regularly. It’s fantastic to see local people taking the initiative to inspire change and help to combat the men’s mental health crisis which in recent years has become a huge issue both locally and nationally.
Well done guys!
