Newlyn Christmas Lights Switch On 2024

At the time of writing this, Christmas 2024 is almost upon us and Newlyn’s Christmas lights are in their positions throughout the village and ready to go!
The Newlyn Switch On will take place on Friday 6th December with events commencing at 6pm and ending with a fantastic firework display over the harbour.
Thanks to the support of a grant from Cornwall Council, the display will begin with silent fireworks gradually building to a bang at the end. The fireworks used in this year’s display are plastic free.
Father Christmas himself will be making an appearance, arriving in proper Newlyn style… aboard the Penlee Lifeboat!
Every child at the switch on will be handed a raffle ticket and the winning ticket holder will be the lucky one to help Father Christmas switch on the lights!
Children from Newlyn Primary school will be singing and there will be a performance from the brilliant Penance Town
Band to really get you in the festive spirit.
As always, the Newlyn Harbour Lights Committee have done an amazing job, fundraising throughout the year and working tirelessly to organise this fantastic community event. There will be donation buckets on the evening, please spare what you can as it all helps the team continue to make the Newlyn Christmas Lights Switch On the really special annual local event that everyone loves.
