St Ives Festival Promises a Spectacular September
St Ives is preparing once again for its much loved September Festival, returning from 12 to 26 September with a vibrant and diverse programme.
Music, arts, performance and community spirit will fill the town for a full fortnight, with headline acts across St Ives Theatre, St la Church and St Ives Arts Club, alongside exhibitions, workshops, walks and lively street entertainment.
The Festival opens at St Ives Theatre with the unmistakable sound of The Oggymen, whose rich harmonies and deep connection to Cornish heritage make them the perfect act to launch the celebrations. The Theatre also welcomes national treasure Pam Ayres, whose show is already selling fast as audiences rush to enjoy her trademark wit and warmth. Adding a contemporary edge, rising country pop artist Harleymoon Kemp brings soulful vocals and sharp songwriting to the theatre’s stage, offering a fresh modern flavour to the programme.
Festival Director Jax Wetherill says the team is “very excited by this year’s line up, which brings a fresh mix of artists and voices to St Ives. We’ve worked hard to provide a diverse mix of entertainment whilst keeping the Festival’s heart and heritage firmly in place.” At St la Church, audiences can look forward to a skilfully curated programme of performances. Festival legend Steve Knightley returns with his powerful songwriting and storytelling; Bailey Tomkinson and The Locals bring their acclaimed blend of Americana and coastal folk; Bryher’s Boys offer stirring Cornish shanties; and Molly Hocking, winner of The Voice UK, brings her stunning vocals back to her hometown. LYR, featuring Simon Armitage, the poet laureate, adds a unique blend of poetry, music and immersive soundscapes. The church’s natural acoustics and soulful atmosphere make it one of the Festival’s most magical venues.
At St Ives Arts Club, the programme is as eclectic and characterful as ever. Jude Johnson brings expressive vocals and warm stage presence; the Adam Sweet Trio delivers blues infused musicianship; Johnny Cowling brings humour and heart; and Hollie Rogers offers powerful songwriting and a voice that fills the intimate seafront space. The Arts Club continues to champion emerging talent and creative risk taking, making it a favourite for audiences seeking something a little different.
The streets of St Ives will once again come alive on the afternoons of Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 September, with street performances from
12:00pm to 16:30pm. The first Saturday bursts into life with the exuberant Falmouth Marine Band, while the second opens with Rock Choir Cornwall, filling the town with uplifting harmonies and feel good favourites.
Beyond the music, the Festival celebrates the town’s artistic soul. Open Studios invites visitors into the workspaces of painters, potters, printmakers and sculptors; St Ives Museum hosts a special exhibition exploring the town’s cultural history; and Porthmeor Studios offers classes and workshops for those keen to get hands on with their creativity. St Ives Library adds Art Club workshops and a dedicated poetry session, expanding the Festival’s creative reach even further. Guided walks, talks and exhibitions ensure there is something to inspire everyone. with its blend of world class performers, local talent and creative exploration, the 2026 St Ives September Festival is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet – a true celebration of the town’s spirit and artistic heritage.
