A popular choice with locals and visitors alike and offering a tantalising menu of fresh local produce alongside a variety of local ales and spirits The Turks Head is situated on Chapel Street and is reputedly the oldest pub in Penzance. The pub itself is steeped in history and is reputed to date from 1233 when during the crusades, the Turks invaded Penzance from Jerusalem. Frequented by Pirates and Smuggler seven hundred and fifty years ago, the underground tunnel which secretly led them and their bounty from Penzance Harbour can still be seen from the pub’s courtyard today. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes The Turks Head an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing pint or glass of wine. Sample a wide range of local ales and ciders, or in keeping with the pub’s swashbuckling history there is a vast selection of rums available. The Turks Head is also popular with diners with a menu created from fresh local produce. They currently have a menu where you can choose from a varied selection of main courses including mature aged Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak, baked cod loin and slow cooked rolled belly pork.
