Chapel Street Festival of Music | April 26th – 28th 2024

The 2024 Chapel Street Music Festival programme contains a colourful and diverse range of events, featuring a wealth of local talent, with a keen focus on giving opportunities to young performers. Some events are FREE, and there is something for everyone, young and old alike!
The Chapel Street Ensemble kickstart the Festival on Friday 26th with a bang, offering a dance / jazz – inspired programme: Tangos, foxtrots and all that jazz. The Big Wind Day on the 27th gives a lunchtime platform to some of the finest young woodwind players in Cornwall who, together with Chapel Street Winds, also premiere a brand new commission by Cornish composer Paul Saggers Jam on First! as part of the evening concert.
The final day sees a new collaboration with the Minack Theatre Acting Academy, presenting Prokofiev’s evergreen Peter and the Wolf, a FREE event, perfect for families and children, on the afternoon of Sunday 28th. The Festival ends on a gentler, more reflective note with a concert of music for voice, viola and piano Music, when soft voices die, featuring young Cornish mezzo-soprano Esmee Loughlin-Dickenson and Emma Stansfield (viola). All events take place at the Methodist Church on Penzance’s historic Chapel Street. No advance booking is necessary. Some events are FREE; others will operate on a ‘Pay what you can’ basis.
